MTI Announces Transition of Leadership to Second Generation
Greenville, AL — 5/15/2025 — Montgomery Technology, Inc. (MTI), a trusted provider of integrated security electronics systems for the justice industry, announces the retirement of its founder and owner, Tim Skipper. After nearly four decades of pioneering leadership, Mr. Skipper is transitioning into a consulting role as the company enters a new chapter under the leadership and ownership of his sons, Patrick Skipper and Nathan Skipper.
Tim Skipper, a graduate of Auburn University in Electrical Engineering, founded MTI in 1987 with a clear vision: to deliver simple, reliable, and innovative security control solutions tailored for correctional facilities. Under his guidance, MTI quickly established a reputation for engineering excellence and customer-focused design.
Among Mr. Skipper’s many accomplishments are the development of a robust control system architecture that has remained backwards compatible for an unparalleled 38 years—demonstrating a rare commitment to longevity and value in system design. He also led the early development of integrated systems on touchscreen computers and handheld devices.
As he steps back from day-to-day operations, MTI will continue to benefit from his expertise in a consulting capacity. Leadership of the company will now pass to the second generation: Patrick Skipper will serve as President, overseeing company operations and strategic direction, while Nathan Skipper will serve as Vice President, focusing on sales and technology advancement.
“We are deeply grateful for the legacy our father has built and honored to carry it forward,” said Patrick Skipper. “His vision and integrity are embedded in every part of this company, and we are committed to upholding those values as we lead MTI into the future.”
Nathan Skipper added, “Our focus remains the same: delivering smart, reliable, and user-friendly control solutions that meet the evolving needs of the justice system. With our father’s continued input, we are well-positioned to build on his remarkable legacy.”
MTI extends its heartfelt thanks to Tim Skipper for his decades of leadership, and looks forward to continued growth and innovation under the next generation of family leadership.
